Hereditary Factor In Varicose Veins

Posted by john on Oct 28, 2008

Recently, my veins in the back of my legs are taking a bulging shape as the veins are seen in blue color. I met my physician who told me that I am developing varicose veins. This has resulted as a result of hereditary factor. My father and grandfather had this condition. Although, the condition does not cause any major trouble, I find the area aching with pain and also there is discomfort. My doctor told me that if left untreated, there could be serious problems I could face. Also, varicose veins are an indicator of some higher risk condition of the circulatory system.

My doctor advised me to wear compression stockings and also change some of my lifestyle. This include walking less that I do due to my work schedule. He also advised me that if the condition does not go away, I must meet a vein specialist. He has also advised me some preventive measures to prevent varicose veins. These measures are designed to improve the circulation and muscle tone and lessen the chance of getting more varicose veins. He also gave me certain exercises that I should do at home. These include moving of legs, walking to improve the blood circulation in the legs, watching my weight so that I do not get overweight. I must also watch my diet for not increasing my weight.
